One Systems chosen for 66-day Otodama Sea Studio festival in Japan

Nashville, Tennessee, August 11, 2011 – A One Systems sound reinforcement system was chosen to help entertain music lovers at the Otodama Sea Studio festival, held on Zushi Kaigan beach between June 24th and August 28th.  Zushi is next to Hayama town, and very close to an Imperial Villa.  The Otodama Sea Studio festival is one of the premier summer music festivals held in Japan. Mr.Kurei and Mr. Iseki of Kimaguren, who grew up in this region of Japan, have run the 66-day Otodama Sea Studio festival as ‘Umi-no-Ie Live House’ (Live house on the beach) since 2005.

Completing the installation was One System’s Japanese distributor, M and N Co., Inc.  The festival host specified that the speaker system had to be ideally suited to reproduce vocals for articulate music and speech reinforcement.  Considering the fact that the system also had to be able to withstand all types of weather conditions, M and N’s Tetsu Morimoto suggested One Systems for the job, for in his experience, One Systems speakers perform “perfectly” in extreme weather conditions.

Equipment used at the event comprised two 212CIM loudspeaker systems, two 118Sub-W subwoofer systems, and two POPS systems. Meanwhile, two 112IM loudspeaker systems, two 212Sub-W subwoofer systems as side speakers and two Proscenium 108IM two-way speaker systems were also chosen. The satellite speaker system was comprised of two 106IM high systems, while the amplifiers used were Ashly Audio’s NE1600 and NE2400.  A Soundcraft mixing console was selected for the festival.

M and N’s Toshio Kojima reported that due to the venue dimensions, the team’s challenge was to achieve the same sound levels across all the seats. Mr Kojima said that the team had to be “confident that the entire system would reproduce vocals and speech reinforcement”.

Engineer and sound designer Mr. Yusuke Murakami also stated “the most attractive part of One Systems is the very high vocal intelligibility of the 212CIM and 112IM speakers.  The intelligibility is outstanding and the overall tonal quality is exceptional”, he offered.

Stating that sound quality is first on his company’s list of “must-haves”, Mr Kojima described the One System speakers as “ideally-suited” to the humid conditions at the beach festival.

Festival organisers are said to be “very happy” with the sound reinforcement system.
