One Systems Speakers Greet Fans at the Brand New Dallas Cowboys Stadium
Nashville, Tennessee, October, 2009 – Pro Media/Ultra Sound (PMUS) of Hercules,
California recently installed One Systems 312CIM speakers at the new Dallas Cowboys
Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the largest domed stadium in the world.
With speakers mounted near each entrance, on either side of the quarter-mile long
imported steel trusses running the length of the stadium, the new system provides
seamless pre and post-game production coverage to fans. The speakers, installed
nearly 85 feet from the ground, are secured to the trusses with custom One Systems
212IM-U brackets, designed specifically for these applications. “We thought we would
have to give up sound quality for aesthetics due to the architectural requirements, but
the 312CIM’s provide both,” says Demetrius Palavos, Senior Sales and Design Engineer
for Pro Media/Ultra Sound (PMUS). “The compactness of these speakers is incredible
and working at 70-Volt mode, they meet the throw requirements superbly and blend in
well with the iconic architecture.”
Cowboys Stadium design consultants, WJHW Inc. of Dallas, chose One Systems for the
superior sound quality and inherent weather resistant details, as well as the fact that
they are paintable to match the architecture, visually unobtrusive and rust resistant. “The
architects aesthetic requirement dictated that the speakers must blend into the
architecture and not leave any rust stains on the area below,” says Kevin Day of WJHW
Inc. “We were quite pleased with the power and sound quality from these speakers and
look forward to specifying these for future projects where weather survivability and good
sound quality are desired.”
One Systems engineer, Mike O’Neill, was directly involved in the project. “Mike was
fantastic and actually turned us on to One Systems in the first place,” says Day. “The
entire team was great to work with, they understood our need to paint the speakers to
match the trusses and worked with us closely as to not void the warranty. No other
company we spoke with gave us that customizable option.”
This isn’t the first stadium installation for One Systems. “Weatherproofing, bandwidth,
output, vocal intelligibility and customization when necessary, are what our speakers are
all about,” says One Systems President, Doug MacCallum. “They work especially well in
these high-noise, long throw situations. And it’s always exciting to be a part of such a
high-profile venue.”
