Alabama’s Newest Drag Racing Facility Outfitted with One Systems Speakers
Nashville, Tennessee, September, 2009 – I-22 Motorsports, the new drag racing facility in Eldridge, Alabama, has outfitted their track with One Systems direct weather speakers. The newly installed system will deliver high-level announcements and statistics during weekly race events, as well as superior reproduction for occasional live music concerts. The installation includes eight 212IM two-way double 12-inch loudspeakers systems mounted to wooden telephone poles with 30-degree angle brackets.
The construction of I-22 Motorsports began in 2008 and was completed by March, 2009. I-22 Motorsports provides National coverage of Heads Up Racing, as well as hosting the opening and closing events of ORSCA. The track boasts between 2,000 and 10,000 fans on a weekly basis with races nine months out of the year.
“The noise level can range between 80 and 120 db, so we needed speakers that could break through the buzz and required no cover to the various weather conditions.” says Greg Sims, Marketing Director of I-22 Motorsports. “Compared to other systems out there, these speakers provide the best bang for my buck and have performed flawlessly since installation.”
212IM speakers were chosen to adorn the racing facility because they utilize two 12-inch Inside/Only (12I/O) low frequency woofers in a vertical array, ET60/40 (60 x 40) Equivalent Throat Technology horns that are coupled to ET-1 large format compression drivers. The system provides a higher Q than that of single 12-inch two-way systems. This makes the 212IM ideal for reverberant spaces and long throw applications, such as racetracks, sports stadiums and other direct weather applications. Its unique design also offers wide bandwidth polar control and low distortion. In addition, the weather proof design of all One Systems loudspeakers allow them to be used in virtually any outdoor or indoor space.
“I-22 Motorsports is another great opportunity to showcase our direct weather speakers,” says One Systems President, Doug MacCallum, “as well as our products’ ability to deliver superior intelligibility and maximum output power despite environmental challenges.”
